Degree Plans

The Department of Communication Disorders at Arkansas State University offers two degree programs.
Besides traditional lecture curriculum, both degrees have a strong clinical practicum component.

The Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders (CMD) This program is a pre-professional degree that has been designed to prepare students for graduate education in speech-language pathology and/or audiology.  Undergraduate course requirements make it imperative that students meet with an academic advisor in the department as soon as possible.
Please email commdis@astate.edu to request an appointment or call 870.972.3106.

The undergraduate program is open for admission to students meeting the admission requirements of: Minimum 30 credit hours; minimum overall GPA of 2.75; Grade of "C" or better in Freshman English I & II, Oral Communication, and College Algebra; GPA of 3.1 or better in the core courses (Intro to Psych, Phys. Sci., Human Anat. & Lab, Intro to CD, Anat. & Phys. of Speech, and Phonetics), pass a speech and hearing screening, minimum of 10 hours of clinical observation).
